If you have been keeping up with the news, you know about all the flooding in Minnesota and North Dakota. It just so happens that my very best friend from high school lives right in the middle of where everything is going on. She has taken some pictures and videos to show a little bit of what they are going through at the moment. Click here for her blog and please keep her and her family in your prayers!

The Little Red Desk
When we decided to move, we agreed on finding a desk for Brady. He either already had or soon would outgrow his table and chairs. So I stopped at the furniture store one afternoon and found a cute desk that would match his bedroom furniture. Perfect, I thought! But when I told Blake it was $300 for the desk and matching chair, he said NO WAY! (And deep down in my thrifty heart, I knew he was right. Darn...I hate admitting when he is right.)
So my search began again. I checked Craigslist and Ebay...nothing. I stopped at the Goodwill near our apartment (which always has the best Target rummage stuff)...still nothing. I went to the Goodwill near my job (which is the crummiest Goodwill I have EVER been to) and found the perfect desk! FOR FIVE DOLLARS! Now granted it needed a lot of TLC...names were scratched on the top and graffiti was all over it. But for five dollars, I couldn't pass it up. Plus it was the perfect size and it wasn't particle board.
So I brought my little prize home. I sanded everything down, primed it, and painted it red. Then I resanded again to give it a distressed look. I reattached all the original hardware...which I LOVE and here you have it...the little red desk! It is perfect in Brady's room!
PS...Don't you just love the color of his walls? It's called Old Blue Jeans by Benjamin Moore.

A New Post...Finally
I realize I haven't posted in a while...well quite a while. We have been in the process of moving. We found a cute rental house right down the street from our apartment and it had A LOT more room, so we moved! The owners gave us some freedom to make it "home" so we have been busy with little projects here and there and a lot of painting. Anyway, with that said, I will post some pictures of our new home later.
I think I am going to skip all our Christmas and after pictures and just pick up with our recent pictures. There is no catching up from that long ago. Oh well.
The latest and greatest at the Holland household is that we finally got some snow...8 inches to be exact! And with every significant snowfall comes SNOW Days! We've been out for two days now which has given us some time to get some more stuff put away. NICE! Brady really enjoyed the snow, although his sled was buried under the snow for the first day and we couldn't find it. I finally accidentally stepped on it. We built snowmen and had snowball fights. I made snow cream and we went sledding. It really has been so much fun. So we will probably be back to our normal routine tomorrow...at least I am hoping so and this weekend the weather is supposed to warm up into the 70's! Yahoo! I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't wait for Spring!
